Ian Contessa

I have been flying model helicopters since 1982, I was 7 years old when I first started stirring the sticks. But have been around RC models, fixed and rotary wing all of my life, my dad starting the hobby as something we could do together.

Past machines include the original Hirobo Shuttle, 505 & 888, a Kalt Baron 20MX, Kyosho Concept 30 & 60’s, TSK Black Star Super Kaisers & Five Star 30V, Bergen Intrepid, JR Vigor, Century Predator MAX90’s & Falcon46.

My main area of competition was FAI F3C throughout the late 80’s and into the 90’s, rejoining the F3C scene back in 2002 with my best result being 3rd place at the British Nationals in 2005.

I’m currently flying Align models; 550E & 700E class, with 600 & 700N’s in the past. I have been very lucky to get sponsorship by both Robbe Schluter UK and Midland Helicopters. A great bunch of guys I have known for many years!

My passion is RC model helicopters and I am very excited to be part of Team Midland!
